1. Brief introduction
KD-122LC Wireless Interconnectable Smoke Alarm is a photoelectric smoke alarm with low power consumption. Internal precise analog circuit and digital circuit make the detection work more stable and reliable. It has interconnection function using radio frequency link, which means when one unit makes alarm, other interconnected units within the interlink range will alarm at the same time. This product has small volume and the built-in large-capacity battery can provide service life of 10 years.
2. Product characteristics

5.2 Installation Instructions
a. Hold the mounting plate against the selected installation position on the ceiling, and mark the center of two screw holes with a pencil. Drill holes through the pencil marks and use the enclosed screws and anchors to secure the mounting plate.
b. Insert the hooks of the mounting plate to the slots of the alarm, the positioning column should also align with the positioning groove. Rotate the alarm clockwise until it snaps into place. (See Figure 3)

Figure 3
Note: If you can’t rotate the alarm after insect the hooks into the slots, please check if the positioning column aligns with the positioning groove.
5.3 Recommended Locations for Smoke Alarms and Locations to Avoid
a. Recommended Locations for Smoke Alarms
Install at least one smoke alarm in every bedroom.
If you install the smoke alarm in a passageway whose width is less than 3m, install it in the middle and install one unit every 12m.
At least 1.5m from fluorescent lamp or neon lamp. (In case of electronic interference).
At least 3m from the bathroom.
At least 6m from the kitchen or stove.
At least 30cm from the lamps.
Locate the smoke alarm in the middle of the room. If you can’t, install it at least 1m from the wall.

If you install the smoke alarm on sloped or peaked ceiling, the installation position shall be at least 90cm from the highest point.

b. Locations to Avoid
In the garage. Products of combustion are present when you start your automobile.
Near fresh air vents, fans, air conditioner or other drafty areas.
In dusty areas. Dust particles may cause nuisance alarm or failure to alarm. The insect screen can only obstruct part of the insects or dust.
In an area where the temperature may fall below 0℃ or rise above 40℃.
In humid areas. Bathroom. Kitchen.
Areas where have metallic shield that will block RF signal.
6. Function
A. Operating mode
Test
Press and hold the TEST button and the product will enter alarm mode. It will make beeps that are louder than 86dB. The alarm indicator (red) will flash.
Standby condition
In standby condition, the smoke alarm detects every 10 seconds. The alarm indicator flashes every 344 seconds to indicate that the smoke alarm is operating properly. When it senses products of combustion, the alarm sounds. And the alarm indicator (red) flashes at the same time, until the air is clear.
Silence mode
When it’s in alarm condition or standby condition, press and hold the TEST button, and the alarm will enter silence mode. The alarm indicator (red) flashes every 9 seconds and no audible sound will be heard. That will last for about 8.6 minutes. Pressing and holding the TEST/HUSH button for several seconds will end the silence mode.
Low battery warning
When the battery voltage is too low, the product will make short beeps every 43 seconds to warn the user, until the battery voltage comply with the working voltage of the smoke alarm.
Smoke chamber degeneration warning
The working environment and time will cause the degeneration of smoke chamber. When the product makes 3 short beeps every 43 seconds, it indicates end-of-unit-life. You should replace the smoke alarm with a new one.
B. Learn to interconnect
Note1: All the smoke alarms of this model have wireless interconnection function. It requires at least two smoke alarms. Within effective interlink range, 100 units can be interconnected. We suggest you complete interconnection operation before you install the product to the ceiling, to make your operation more efficient.
Note2: The interlink range of this product is ≥100m (free field). But as different construction will have different effect on the transmission distance, if there is product that cannot be interconnected, please adjust the installation position of the product.
Secure all the alarms that need to be interconnected to the mounting plate and twist clockwise. Then the smoke alarm enters standby condition. But these units are not interconnected with each other now.
Choose one product as the host, and double press the TEST button. The alarm indicator (green) will be steady on, which means it is ready to receive data from other units as extensions that need to be interconnected.
Choose another product to be interconnected, double press the TEST button. The alarm indicators (green) of both the host and the extension will flash rapidly several times, which means they are interconnected successfully. You can repeat this operation to interconnect more units. One minute later the alarm indicator (green) of the host will be off, that means the unit enters normal standby condition.
In the interconnected system, when one unit senses smoke, the alarm indicator (red) of this unit will flash with beeps. The alarm indicators (green) of the remaining interconnected units will flash with beeps.
C. Cancel interconnection
If you want to cancel the interconnection function of certain unit, double press the TEST button. But don’t release the button for the second time, hold it for about 5 seconds until the alarm indicator (green) flashes rapidly several times. That means you’ve canceled interconnection successfully.
